Madhavan
This is Madhavan (lovingly called Madhavettan (meaning brother Madhavan)). The place may look run down. If you ask how clean or hygienic? Well, don't ask because it is a silly question. But if you ask how good the "pulled tea" is or how good the lentil vada (locally called parippuvada) he makes and serves is..then hands down the best in the land.
I must have had endless cups the last couple of summer-monsoon months I was there. Once I left I realized how much I missed it . And everywhere else I went the tea simply fell short. This man should have a facebook page with a fan following and a million "likes". On the other hand there is a lot of charm and un-adulteration in the simplicity that surrounds him and his little tea shack . Will it be too selfish to wish for it to remain as is?

Old Love
Always had a thing for old things. I cannot afford antiques (the pricey ones i.e.). So when you get an old object-of-desire for free, you thank your stars and count your blessings and accept it gracefully (well, greedily).
This wooden chest has to be 100 years old if not more. Belonged to my grandfather or could be even his father's (hmmm, I actually need to confirm that) and my uncle gave it to me some 16 years ago. It remains a favorite piece in my house, despite the wear and tear and all the "battle" scars.
